The Good
Protects Against Freezer Burn
The lids on these tubs are wonderful at resisting freezer burn. They’re very well sealed to the tubs, as the tubs are made from solid plastic, while the lids themselves are flexible. This means that your ice cream will stay better for longer, remaining scoopable and tasty!
Dishwasher Safe
These tubs are completely dishwasher safe, which is one of the most convenient and handy things to have in a modern kitchen. When you’ve got a dishwasher in your kitchen, you quickly stop wanting to wash anything by hand, preferring to only buy dishwasher-safe items – this is one such item. If you’ve got a dishwasher, you’ll surely value this feature!
Erasable Label
The outside surface of these tubs features an erasable label, which you can write on easily with a dry-erase marker. This means that you can quickly write labels onto your products, without having to dig around in a drawer for sticky labels, and finding a pen that works. Instead, the label will last for a long time and be easily applicable!
The Bad
The Size
These tubs are 1 quart in size, which is quite a lot of ice cream. If you’re happy to scoop out individual portions and serve them in bowls, then you should be completely fine. However, several people would prefer to eat an entire tub, like they would with Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. If that’s the case for you, we don’t think it’s too likely that you would want to sit down and eat an entire quart of ice cream – that’s a heck of a lot.
The Quality
These tubs are very high quality, and sure to be long-lasting. This might sound like a good thing on the face of it, but it can be tricky when it comes to making such a shareable thing as ice cream. You won’t want to hand these tubs out to friends that may or may not bring them back, which disincentivizes the sharing process altogether.
Stainable Plastic
The plastic that these tubs are made from is, as with most plastics, quite easily stainable with products that have an acid content. If you’ve made ice cream with fruit in it, this is more likely than you’d think. Considering how long these tubs are likely to last, it’s unlikely that you would want to keep using them after they’re stained. It’s a small thing, but it’s worth considering.
The Verdict
We would certainly buy these tubs. They seem to be high quality at a great price, plus we’re a big fan of reusing tubs and containers to be more environmentally sustainable. Overall, these tubs look great!
