What Are The Museums Of Ice Cream in New York, Austin, & Singapore?
The museum of ice cream is a wonderful brand that has sprung up in the world of ice cream fairly recently. Not too long ago, an ice cream museum would have been a small venture carried out by the town council in a little city. However, nowadays, the museum of ice cream is a brand bought into the world by Figure8. Learn more about The Museums Of Ice Cream in New York, Austin, & Singapore below:
On the whole, the brand is designed to create wonderful museums which encapsulate a number of different things about an experience to create a space that can fit into something like a museum. The brand prides itself on being a group of people that transform concepts and dreams into spaces that provoke a reaction on a number of levels – the experiences are all considered to be multi-sensory, which can help you to transport yourself easily while not moving an inch.
One of the cornerstones of what the museum of ice cream does is bring together people to form connections in the real world within their spaces. This is an impressive goal and one that they achieve brilliantly.
The store itself functions as something in between a store and a museum. You are encouraged to interact with and walk around each location, and you can often pick things off shelves to be bought on your way out. Mostly, though, the venues are used as locations for selfies, which can be very popular with influencers.
The ‘playgrounds’ as the interactive experiences have been described have proven to be extremely popular, finding homes across the US and the world itself.
In terms of ice cream itself – Target sold Museum of Ice Cream ice cream in 2018, stopping in 2020. The name of the stores is less related to the food itself, and more related to the bubblegum-pink color palette that is found throughout the spaces.
New York, New York
In the NYC location, the Museum of Ice Cream includes a number of wonderful places to do all manner of wonderful things. According to their site, you may sing, dance, craft, swim, slide, climb, laugh, smile, lick, and even hug a number of their exhibits. Within the price of your ticket, you are more than permitted to eat treats within your stay!
In the course of a daytime experience, you can do a number of things. The main body of a trip to the location would be made up of free travel through thirteen magical installations. On that list is the Oh Yeah Room – a dessert feast that is surrounded by floating balloons. There is also Celestial Subway, which is a reimagining of the NY Subway.
Perhaps the most exciting part of a daytime ticket, though, would be the world’s only sprinkle pool! Apparently, guests are encouraged to swim among sprinkles, eating as they go if they might like. How unusual!
Instead of the Daytime ticket, you can also buy a Night At The Museum ticket, which allows you to come in the evening, and is recommended for ice cream lovers over the age of sixteen. The experience of the stay is much the same as in the daytime, but the difference is the crowd – generally older and a little more relaxed, it’s a good vibe that people adore.
Finally – we come to Pinkmas. Pinkmas is an annual holiday celebration from the Museum of Ice Cream in NYC. In 2021, the Museum of Ice Cream promises to overhaul the spaces for all of its thirteen attractions, leading to the creation of a pink winter wonderland in which there will be sweet treats (and ice cream, undoubtedly) galore!
Pinkmas is only available in the Museum of Ice Cream NYC – so check it out if you’re nearby!
Austin, Texas
The powerfully pink location in Austin is truly something that stands out in the city – it’s tough to look away from! The bubblegum pink building stands out, attracting people from far and wide to find a good time here.
The Daytime and Night at the Museum experiences are both on offer here just as they are in New York – this spot offers twelve multi-sensory installations which you will be guided through by skilled guides, and offered any number of sweet treats.
Something sweet which is unique to this location is the special add-on birthday celebration packages. These include discounted specialty cocktails and shakes, as well as goodies that you can take home.
Singapore
The Singapore location of Museum of Ice Cream is, while a little more non-distinct than its sister branches, still very spottable: the enormous sign featuring candyfloss-pink lettering above the door is a hit of a giveaway, to say the least.
This location includes fourteen multi-sensory installations, through which you will be guided by members of the team. Museum of Ice Cream guides are known to be superb, and these guides are, without a doubt, no exception.
The Singapore branch of the Museum of Ice Cream is a great place to add on a number of different sweet purchases to make your experience a delight. However, they aren’t a must – with unlimited sweet treats being offered to you during the tour.
Where can you learn about ice cream?
Well, that’s a great question! The Museum of Ice Cream does offer a number of informative odds and ends that you might be interested in learning about, but there are other resources that might be a little better for getting some proper knowledge.
We’d recommend picking up a copy of The Perfect Scoop, and/or a copy of Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Dessert Book. Both of these books are wonderful ways to learn more about the art of making ice cream – they’re sweet and delicious, almost as much as the recipes within them!
Those books are principally recipe books, however. Ice cream has a really interesting history all its own, and we’d recommend checking out the Ice Cream episode of the gastropod podcast – it’s fascinating, and a great listen!
