Where can you get jipangi?
As we just said, jipangi can be very difficult indeed to get hold of. This is because they were a Korean snack originally, meaning that they’re most commonly found within Korea. In a number of Korean malls, there will be stands or small food areas where someone is preparing and offering jipangi for people to eat as they wander the mall. It’s a sweet treat that often goes very well with a hot, stuffy day among a crowd of people.
Elsewhere around the world, the sweet treat has been seen to be catching on. There are a number of different vendors who are happily purchasing the crispy outer shells, as they already have a soft-serve ice cream machine available to them. Therefore, all they might need to do is combine the two.
We would recommend looking online to see if you can find a vendor near you, as that will be the best way to learn about what they offer, as well as their opening hours. On top of that, you’ll be able to see reviews!
A number of people seem to find jipangi a little underwhelming, and we do understand that – it’s a fairly basic dessert. We’d argue, though, that the thing which makes jipangi great isn’t the flavor, necessarily, but the novelty of eating something really unique and cool!
So, to sum up, make sure you get online and find a Jipangi place near you! Whether you love it or simply think it’s acceptable, it would be a fun little day out with you and a close friend – perhaps a great way to catch up!
How we might change things
There are a few things that we might change about the jipangi if we were able to track down a recipe for that outer shell. We’ve already spoken about the best ways to make homemade ice cream soft, so we’re pretty sure we’ve got that covered for now.
The first thing that pops to mind would be to add a churro-style list of ingredients to the batter that makes up the crispy outer layer of the jipangi. Churro has a lot of flavor, thanks to the brown sugar and cinnamon blend that is an integral part of their makeup. To boost jipangi, we’d add those seasonings to the batter!
We would also like to offer some kind of way that the ice creams could change as you progress down through the cone of the jipangi. For example, you could start off by eating a vanilla cone, and finish up with a strawberry one! This would mean using some interesting techniques and tricks to get the ice cream into the right place within the cone, but with some practice, we’re sure it would work!
Finally, we would suggest using some interesting sauces on jipangi. The likely list of ice cream sauces is on offer at a number of locations around the world, from chocolate to raspberry, and everything in between. However, we’d love to see some new twists, based on a churro seasoning blend within the cone itself. For example, you could try to make a brilliant dulce de leche sauce! We, for one, would buy out the whole stock!
