Italian Affogato Recipe
Tasty Ice Cream has brought you a top-rated and rich Italian dessert recipe, Affogato Recipe. No need to travel a long way to try it. Make it at home and enjoy this delight with joy and ease.
For a basic introduction, Affogato, commonly known as “affogato al Caffe” is an Italian coffee-based dessert. Affogato is among my top favorites when it comes to Italian desserts or ice creams. It usually takes the form of a scoop of plain milk-flavored or vanilla gelato or ice cream topped or “drowned” with a shot of hot espresso. Some variations also include a shot of amaretto, Bicerin, Kahlua, or other liqueur.
In Italy, it is known as “gelato al fior di latte” with the translation to English “flower of milk”. Typically the ingredients in the ice cream includes dairy, starch, and sugar. It is popular in countries where they dress it with chocolate syrup, cantuccini, or biscotti to provide extra flavors.
While the recipe of the affogato is more or less standard in Italy, consisting of a scoop of vanilla gelato topped with a shot of espresso, variations exist in European and American restaurants. Occasionally, coconut, berries, honeycomb and multiple flavors of ice cream are added.
The homemade recipe is as simple as making a cup of tea. Making this yummy delight only takes 5 minutes, and you can have the taste of it running in your mouth all day. So, let’s get started and make this simple recipe. Follow the instructions below.
